Is there a chocolate chip crisis I don't know about?

I don't really think there is, but I just heard about a cookie crisis and I had to share.

My niece is staying with us for 3 weeks while her folks are in Europe. To soften the blow we decided to make cookies today. As she happily dumped ingredients into the bowl (sampling her work along the way as all good chocolate chip cookie chefs do), she asked how much of the bag of chocolate chips she should use.

Excuse me?!

It was not one of those monster mega bags, it was a regular bag. The ENTIRE THING is obviously the only correct answer to that. Who is cheaping out on chocolate chips? This is no time to be frugal people. Cut the brown sugar with white sugar - ok - but these are not cookies with chocolate chips - these are chocolate chip cookies!
