I promise I won't dwell on this, but FOR THE LOVE OF ALL SOFT FOODS my mouth still aches.
I'm trying to come up with a list of great things about having braces at my advanced age. Here's what I've got so far.
1. I look much younger -- like a teenager even, based on the average age of people in the waiting room.
2. I get first dibs on the new Highlights magazine and Seventeen if I have an early enough appointment.
3. My mouth hurts so much I don't even feel like eating. This might be the perfect time to finally lose the pregnancy weight now that the babies are all teenagers.
4. If I get tired of the book I brought with me to my appointment I can always look at the latest "Where's Waldo" book.
5.
I missed having rubber bands all over the house so much that it's great
to see them again. Please read that as sarcasm son who last had
braces!
6. My lips constantly feel chapped so I have a
legitimate excuse to use as much chap stick as I do. (Don't judge --
I'm not addicted -- I can quit any time I want.)
7. The shiny wire brings out the shiny highlights in my greying hair.
8. So far no migraines since "installation." This is very good news.
9. I get to pick out the color of my rubber bands. I could use this for good or evil with my children.
10. That's it. I've got nothing else, but ending at nine seemed wrong.
Help me. If you are a fellow wearer of braces comment below and give me one more good thing about this.
