I occasionally buy a loaf of rye bread from one of those big bakery/coffeeshop/casual restaurants which I won't name lest it appear to be an endorsement. But I do love their rye bread and as yet have not been able to reproduce the same flavor at home.
I also occasionally meet a friend there to chat over a cup of coffee.
Part of the cashier script there must be "is that for here or to go?" I think it has to do with how they tax your purchase, but don't quote me on that.
For a cup of coffee it's a totally reasonable question. "Is that for here or to go?"
But for a loaf of bread? "Is that for here or to go?"
Do you think it's possible that anyone would go sit in a booth and eat an entire loaf of bread?
