names names names

If you know me in real life you know I'm obsessed with names.  I love alliterative or rhyming names.  Or just plain funny names.  I will give unsolicited advice to pregnant women on naming their babies if I have the perfect name in mind.  To date no one has taken my advice.

For obvious reason I wasn't allowed to use my talent to it's fullest extent when naming my own children.  The husband is very sweet, and kind, and easy on the eye, but he has his limits.

Unfortunately because we're trying to keep ourselves somewhat anonymous here, I can't discuss this name obsession too much on the blog without revealing the actual names of some of our friends.  Or the suggested names I've given them.

But...

Today is my twin sons' birthday, so I feel the need to discuss naming babies.

Kale

Cicero

Especially twin boy babies.

When we knew the boys were on their way we joked that we would award naming rights to the the person who had the highest net worth in return for a percentage of that net worth.

[I may have also cried as we test drove a minivan the same day.]

[The two things may be related.]

Some of the ideas submitted were:

Bert and Ernie
Mason and Dixon
Calvin and Luther
David and Jonathan
Tom and Jerry
Chip and Dale
Alister and Nigel (my favorite!)
Po and Tinky Winky (this was obviously submitted by the resident 2 year old at the time)
Jon and John (another one of my favorites!)
Red and Blue (so we could color code their clothing to match their names)
Aaron and Lloyd (o.k. that one was my idea -- but full of awesome with the two double letter starts!)

15 years later if Kanye West had been part of the mix I'm sure he would have suggested North and South and we would have totally done it keeping with the percentage of net worth idea above.

So boys,

Happy Birthday.

The greatest gift you've been given is the fact that Dad had final say in choosing your names.

So glad you let me call you Kale and Cicero here at BA31.

AWESOME first day of high school picture!!
