Special edition weekend post.

We've been involved in FIRST Lego League for years.  Lots of them -- years that is.

This year our kids and our team compete for their last year.

They've hit the age limit for kids and there's a good chance we've hit the age limit as coaches.

Over the years we've moved away from guidance and coaching more towards volume control and snack providing.

Our team consists of a a set of all boy quadruplets a set of boy twins and two girls -- I know weird huh, six multiples and two singletons what are the chances?

More than once we have received an award for teamwork and cooperation which only makes sense since six of them have HAD TO cooperate as a team since before birth.

This year we had a crazy start to our season with kids in sports, band, and the general busy-ness of high school freshmen.  Needless to say they didn't have enough time to prepare as well as usual.

We went into today's competition pretty sure that this was our last day as a team -- and our basement would be free and clear of Legos before Christmas (but I may have been the only one thinking about that part).

When after the first round of competition our team only scored a 54 compared to the high score of 453 I was pretty confident that I would no longer be hitting my hip against the lego table on my way to the freezer (please join me in listening to tiny violins playing a sad song for yet another first world problem).

I went home for a while to "walk the dog" and I got a text saying, "you are never going to believe what just happened."

Apparently they scored 350 points -- which is 250 points higher than any practice run they had done.

Yes dear readers we've got six more weeks of FLL in front of us.

Yippee.

So proud of our team.
