Conversation: The price point edition

Setting:  Grocery Store near Beach Access 31

[I realize this is the second story in one week about the grocery store at the beach, bear with me.  Busy week here.]

Wanda Louise:  I'm always shocked at how much higher prices are here than they are at home.

Phi:  Are they?

Wanda Louise:  Well, at least near my home.  I'd never pay more than $2.49 per pound for apples at home.  $1.49 is my upper limit.  And look at the price of hot dog buns!

Phi: I couldn't tell you off the top of my head how much apples or hot dog buns cost at home.

Wanda Louise:  (looking slightly pale and in need of some smelling salts.)  Really?

Phi:  Really.

Wanda Louise:  So you don't have price points in your head of the things you usually buy at the grocery store.

Phi:  Not really.

Wanda Louise:  [faints dead away in the produce section of Harris Teeter out of shock.]
