A few weeks ago I went to vote in a "special election" in our area. Only one issue on the ballot, but an important one.
My polling site serves four different precincts so I always have to look at the maps to remember my precinct number so I go to the correct table to sign in.
I looked at the four maps carefully hung on the wall with blue painters tape on all four sides.
ALL of them were hung upside down. North was South and therefore of course East was West and the title on the map with the "Precinct #8" was completely upside down.
I mentioned this to the poll worker who very carefully explained to me that "that's how they came," and they are required to hang them the same way they come out of the envelope?
Really?
Does this make any sense?
I'm almost speechless.
But not speechless enough to ignore writing a blog post about it.
It's no wonder that when I voted at 4:00 p.m. I was only the 12th person in my precinct to vote.
So they had 13 people working at this site to service, I can only guess based on the law of averages -- 48 people.
No one could take the time to put a little common sense into hanging the maps?
I'm so glad that this is how my tax dollars are being used.
