Beach Access 31 Jogger ratings

As previously mentioned, we are not here to judge, just provide commentary as we see it from our beach chairs. Well, one of the many topics up for discussion is the capabilities and styles (or lack thereof) of our beach runners. Here is a quick summary of our findings:

Beach jogger: the real deal - this jogger is not trying to look cool. This jogger is jogging.

  •  good, consistent pace, weathered clothes (and skin for the older joggers)
  •  focused, not looking around
  •  unaffected by the changing tides

Street jogger:

  • toned, shoes are worn but not beach ready
  • works to stay on hard packed sand
  • looking around wondering why they are more winded than normal
Chased/chasing jogger:
  • typically relatively athletic with no stamina for running in sand
  • pace looks more like they are being chased than it is for the long haul (or they just pretend to be chasing someone so that they can stop anytime claiming to spot their target)
  • pauses to catch breath frequently (while looking around to see if they see their target)
Poser:
  • brand new matching jogging outfit purchased just for the event
  • possibly with matching shoes that were not designed for sand
  • has "equipment failure" after about one beach access that will sideline the entire jog never to be resumed
Have other categories? Please do tell.

  1. Don't forget the legitimate "I'm chasing my child like a mad person" runners who are a category all to themselves.

  2. And don't forget the four year olds who jump up from their sand castle and start running, exclaiming over their shoulder, "I'm just going to get some sand."
